2015 chem tanker arrivals up 18% at Houston port

HOUSTON (ICIS)–Chemical tanker arrivals at the Port of Houston during 2015 increased 18% year on year for the second largest gain among major shipping sectors at the Texas port, according to data released on Wednesday.

Besides chemical tankers, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) vessels showed the largest increase with arrivals up by 23%, and container ships rose by 9%, according to the data from the Greater Houston Port Bureau.

Arrivals declined for general cargo (minus 11%), bulk ships (minus 14%) and tanker vessels (minus 3%).

Total arrivals at the Houston port increased less than 1% in 2015.
