LONDON (ICIS)–Brenntag once again keeps its number 1
position in the 7th annual ICIS Top 100 Chemical
Distributors listing, just released on Monday.
The Germany-based company held the top
spot with $11.2bn in sales, followed by US-based
Univar with $9.0bn in revenues, according to ICIS
Chemical Business magazine.
Germany’s Helm came in at number 3
with $4.9bn in sales, US-based Vinmar International
was 4th overall with sales of $4.1bn, followed by Nexeo
Solutions in 5th with sales of $3.8bn.
This year’s global listing is ranked by
2015 sales, with currency conversions to US dollars based on
year-end 2015 exchange rates.
“With crude oil prices having declined,
bringing down chemical prices in their wake, it has been
challenging to grow sales organically,” said Joseph Chang,
global editor of ICIS Chemical Business
“Following successful initial public
offerings (IPOs) in the sector, many companies are
aggressively employing mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to
build scale in today’s slow growth environment,” he
added.
