US July IPA exports climb year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)—US July exports of isopropanol (IPA) climbed by 22% from the same month last year, according to data made available this week by the International Trade Commission (ITC).

The increase was largely because of increased shipments to Belgium, Turkey and Mexico, which outweighed decreased cargoes sent to India, Peru, Brazil and countries not listed individually in the report.

Month on month, exports soared by almost 72%. Year to date, exports are down by 3%.

Meanwhile, imports of IPA fell by 27% in July, almost entirely on decreased shipments from Canada, the source of 97% of all IPA brought into the US year to date.

Month on month, imports were down by almost 23%. Year to date, imports were up by 3%.

Major US IPA suppliers include Dow Chemical, ExxonMobil, Haltermann, LyondellBasell, Monument Chemical and Shell.
