China’s OX imports in Aug see modest climb

SINGAPORE (ICIS)–Orthoxylene (OX) imports in
China increased by 5% month on month in August at 19,628
tonnes, official data showed on Tuesday.
In August, OX imports rose by almost
1,000 tonnes month on month as stable-to-firm market
conditions in the downstream phthalic anhydride (PA) markets,
coupled with competitively-priced cargoes due to increased
spot availability, had encouraged buyers to return to the
spot market.
On a year on year basis, import levels
fell by 24%, a reflection of the generally weaker trend for
OX observed for most of 2016.
