Watch the recording

On Friday 21 August 2020 at 10:00am BST, ICIS energy expert Alice Casagni examined how the European gas market has started to rebalance, although the potential for volatility remains high as traders monitor the impact of the coronavirus.

The European gas market has been volatile this year with oversupply as a result of an LNG influx and lower demand due to the economic impact of the coronavirus.

The webinar covered:

  • First half of 2020 in review: storage and supply dynamics, Coronavirus impact on gas demand and price movements
  • Winter ’20 contracts – is there more room for downside? What are the factors to watch?
  • Prices in delivery – the impact of temperatures on the winter spot market
  • Power sector – how has gas-to-power generation impacted the gas markets this summer? How will French nuclear impact gas markets this winter?
  • Infrastructure update – focus on the Nord Stream 2 and TAP projects
