NOON SNAPSHOT – Americas Markets Summary

HOUSTON (ICIS news)–Here is Monday’s midday Americas oil and chemical market summary from ICIS pricing.
CRUDE: Jan WTI $62.40/bbl, down $1.03; Jan BRENT $63.59/bbl, down $1.03. Jan WTI traded in a morning range of $61.90-62.80/bbl. Prices retreated in Monday morning trading after crude rose around $4/bbl over the previous week.
NATURAL GAS: January natural gas futures prices plunged 48.2 cents (5.72%) on Monday morning to $7.94/m Btu at noon on continued selling pressure as severe weather conditions eased. Profit-taking in other energy complex contracts reinforced the downward trend for natural gas. The market opened lower and made a brief move up to $8.161/m Btu (-26.1 cents) before sellers pushed prices lower for the remainder of the morning.
PARAXYLENE: US paraxylene (PX) bids and offers were heard on Monday from $1,000-1,060/tonne for January delivery, with shipping terms undisclosed. No completed deals were heard. Bids and offers late last week fell within a similar range.
BDO: BASF said it plans a 6 cent increase on list and off-list prices in the US, Canada and Mexico for 1,4-butanediol (BDO), tetrahydrofuran (THF), PolyTHF polytetramethylene-etherglycol, gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) and N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP).
