SAN ANTONIO (ICIS)–US crude glycerine markets are starting to see the effects of lower biodiesel production, market players said on the sidelines of this year’s International Petrochemical Conference (IPC).

Crude glycerine supply is declining as biodiesel production from non-integrated plants is slowing while the $1/gal tax credit remains uncertain.

Most biodiesel plants produce by-product crude glycerine at a 1:10 ratio.

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel, produced from renewable resources. The most commonly used feedstocks are rapeseed, soy and palm oil.

Hosted by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM), the IPC takes place on 24-26 March in San Antonio, Texas.
