LONDON (ICIS)–The International Petrochemical Conference (IPC) is still scheduled to run as planned at the end of March as coronavirus risks in New Orleans are “very low”, the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) said.

The trade group has advised that the IPC is set to take place as previously arranged on 29-31 March in Louisiana’s largest city.

AFPM wanted to reassure IPC participants after the Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC) was postponed due to rising infection rates.

The US trade group said there have been no reported cases of the virus in Louisiana and risk to the general public is considered to be very low.

“AFPM continues to monitor advice from health care organisations and will provide updated information here as it develops,” it said.

China’s biggest plastics and rubber fair ChinaPlas has also been pushed back for later in the year.

ICIS has moved the date of its Asian Recycling & Sustainability Conference to 19 June.

Many companies have modified their travel policies as a protective measure for staff.
