Russian ups plastics output in 2020 despite pandemic

MOSCOW (MRC)–Russia’s total production of plastics, mineral fertilizers and ammonia increased in January-April 2020 as production facilities remained largely unaffected by the country’s continued lockdown amid the spread of Covid-19.
Russia’s total production of plastics was 17.4% up year on year at 3.3m tonnes, the Russian statistical agency Rosstat said in an announcement released on Friday.
In January-April, Russia’s total production of ammonia was 8.6% up year on year at 6.8m tonnes, according to the announcement.
The country’s output of mineral fertilizers was 1.6% up year on year at 8.1m tonnes.
Synthetic rubber output was 3.1% down year on year at 515,000 tonnes, said the announcement.
Chemical fibre production was 6.7% down year on year at 58,200 tonnes, it said.
