European PVC November prices in CIS markets rise despite stable feedstock

MOSCOW (MRC)–European polyvinyl chloride (PVC) November prices for CIS markets rose by up to €50-65/tonne despite prices for feedstock ethylene rolling over, according to an MRC Price report.

PVC deliveries in November stood at €820-905/tonne FCA (free carrier) CIS, up from €770-840/tonne FCA CIS.

European ethylene November contract prices were unchanged from October, in theory keeping costs for PVC production also stable.

However, PVC prices rose on the back of shutdowns of several PVC plants in Europe and good global demand.

November demand for PVC in CIS countries fell slightly on the back of seasonal factors.

However, some sources said demand was good, considering the start of the cold season, which affects the construction industry, the key PVC consumer.
