SINGAPORE (ICIS)–Arkema has finalised a deal with Chinese producer Aofan to manufacture fluorinated specialty solution 1233zd in China, the French specialty chemicals firm said on Monday.

Aofan’s initial 1233zd capacity of 5,000 tonnes/year is expected to be commissioned in mid-2022, Arkema said in a statement.

Separately, Arkema said that it is planning to invest in additional capacity at its Calvert City site in the US.

The investment being planned for Calvert City will add 15,000 tonnes/year of capacity for an estimated amount of $60m and is expected to start in late 2023.

“Both projects will support increasing market needs for sustainable solutions in high efficiency insulation materials and in emerging applications such as batteries for electric vehicles,” Arkema said.
