HOUSTON (ICIS)–Chris Brown has been appointed president and CEO of Lubrizol effective 20 August, the US specialty chemicals firm confirmed to ICIS on Wednesday.

Eric Schnur, former president, CEO and chairman of Lubrizol, will remain engaged at the company in an advisory role, the company said in an email.

Brown joins Lubrizol, part of US billionaire Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway group, from BHE Infrastructure Group, where he was president and CEO.

BHE is a Berkshire Hathaway Energy company.

Prior to joining BHE Infrastructure Group, Brown served as president for North American sales and service operations for wind turbine supplier Vestas.

His background also includes roles as chief operating officer of the city of Detroit, plus time as a senior executive in the offshore wind industry, a large US utility and an international utility, the company said.

Schnur was CEO of the company from 2 January 2017 when he took over for James Hambrick, who retired after 38 years with Lubrizol.

Lubrizol also makes lubricant additives.
