LONDON (ICIS)–European hydrogen producer Lhyfe is set to develop a new renewable hydrogen plant in Perl, west Germany, the firm announced 11 July.
Lhyfe is expected to build a 70MW renewable hydrogen production plant close to the French border in Saarland. The output of the plant is planned to be 30tonnes/day of renewable hydrogen.
The construction is confirmed to take place in the first half of 2027, and it will be connected to the Mosel Saar Hydrogen Conversion (mosaHYc) hydrogen island network.
The renewable hydrogen project is currently under assessment for the granting of authorizations as well as subject to financial investment decisions.
MOSAHYC PROJECT
The mosaHYc is a project commissioned in 2022 which aims to convert two existing pipelines into a 70-km long piece of pure hydrogen infrastructure.
The 60MW pipeline would connect Völklingen (Germany), Perl (Germany), Carling (France) and Bouzonville (France) in a bid to integrate the Saar, Lorraine and Luxembourg borders with access to hydrogen infrastructure.
A source involved in the management of mosaHYc posted in May that the project was under way.
GRTGaz did not respond at the time of writing on the timeline of mosaHYc.
Project mosaHYc is the product of collaboration between France’s utility GRTgaz SA and Germany’s Creos Deutschland GmbH.
