Belarus LDPE production falls 53% in January-May

MOSCOW (MRC)–Belarus’ overall production of low density polyethylene (LDPE) totalled 25,800 tonnes in the first five months of 2017, down by 53% year on year, according to MRC’s DataScope Report.

Polymir’s overall LDPE output was 25,800 tonnes in January-May 2017 versus 54,800 tonnes a year earlier. The plant has a production capacity of 130,000 tonnes/year.  

Belarus PE production 7.6.17According to the National Statistics Committee of Belarus, Polymir, the local LDPE manufacturer, produced about 5,000 tonnes of polyethylene (PE) in May, a similar amount than in April.

Polymir shut down its LDPE production for a scheduled turnaround on 3 June. The maintenance will be carried out in two stages, with some of the production capacities resuming operations on 17 June.

Polymir, part of Naftan, produces chemicals such LDPE, acrylic fibers, products of organic synthesis or hydrocarbon fractions.
