Valero has fire at US Port Arthur refinery

HOUSTON (ICIS)–A heavy oil tank caught fire at Valero’s refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, the company said on Tuesday.

The fire, which began just before noon Houston time (17:00 GMT) was not yet confirmed as extinguished, though Valero said its emergency crews and the local fire department were responding.

No injures have been reported, the company said, and all employees are accounted for.

The refinery, which was shut down around 30 August because of Hurricane Harvey,  has a throughput capacity of 395,000 bbl/day. Valero has beenin the process of restarting the refinery.
