Wood to provide FEED for Saudi Aramco, SABIC oil-to-chems complex

HOUSTON (ICIS)–Wood has been selected for the front end engineering design (FEED) of Saudi Aramco and SABIC’s crude-oil-to-chemicals (COTC) complex is Saudi Arabia, the engineering and technology firm announced on Thursday.

Wood will provide the pre-FEED and FEED, as well as project management services during the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) phase.

Expected to start up in 2025, the integrated COTC complex is expected to process 400,000 bbl/day of crude and produce 9m tonnes/year of chemical and base oils.

“We are proud to have been selected to be a contractor with Saudi Aramco and SABIC to deliver this significant greenfield onshore facility that will be a first for Saudi Arabia and among the first in the world to integrate the refinery and chemical process in this way,” Wood CEO Robin Watson said.
