LONDON (ICIS)–HARKE Group has signed an agreement with pharmaceutical firm Medichem to distribute the latter’s chlorhexidine salts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the Germany-based distributor said on Tuesday.

Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Chlorhexidine is used as an active pharmaceutical ingredient, disinfectant, antiseptic or preservative, while chlorhexidine salts act against bacteria, enveloped viruses and fungi.

“We are confident that appointing HARKE for promoting our chlorhexidine salts in the DACH [Germany, Austria and Switzerland] area will bring fruitful business to both of our companies,” said the head of Medichem’s chlorhexidine business Diana Pardo.

“Considering HARKE’s local network, expertise and reputation they are in the exact point we were looking for in order to expand distribution channels in all the different sectors where chlorhexidine salts play a role in the market.”
