Consultation

ICIS is implementing a process of rolling consultation on all of its methodologies. This consultation paper is part of this formal process and covers all of the ICIS primary price points included in the ethanolamines weekly publications.

The consultation asked both general questions about the suitability of the ICIS methodology and questions addressing specific ethanolamines market issues.

ICIS Decision

There were two formal responses to consultation GMC 24/14, both confidential.

The first confidential response was regarding the Asia report, and suggested restricting reporting to bulk shipments, and not including smaller parcel sizes, for example iso-tanks.

The second confidential response suggested: changing the assessment definition from contract to market; giving more weight to information from non-producer sources; widening coverage in the ethanolamines report to include more on upstream and other regions; avoiding confusion of cosmetic grade TEA to regular TEA.

The above comments will be taken into account in future coverage, and the market will be canvassed to see whether there is any broader support for these proposals.

ICIS will not be proposing any immediate changes to the methodology of the ethanolamines report. Any decision to change this methodology will be communicated to subscribers using the usual channels and with the usual notice period.

ICIS continues to welcome any feedback on its ethanolamines methodology outside of the formal consultation process.
