PODCAST: Soft MEK pricing across regions on weak consumption

LONDON (ICIS)–Global methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) prices have been softening on weak consumption amid an uncertain outlook for the second quarter, usually the peak of demand from the paints and coatings sectors.

MEK’s main application is as a solvent, with half of global demand derived from the paints and coatings industry. MEK can also be used in rubber-based industrial cements, printing inks and in textile dyes.
