Transcript for Ethylene overview
Ethylene is a gas and it belongs to the olefin group of petrochemicals.
Its one of the most commercially important building blocks in the petrochemical industry. It makes polymers such as polyethylene (PE) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC), it also makes ethylene oxide (EO), ethylene glycol, styrene and ethanol.
All these are used in a big range of commercial uses; commercial and industrial uses, such as the textile industry, automotive industry and construction and all these play a key role in our daily lives.
Ethylene is manufactured primarily through the steam cracking of petroleum based feedstocks such as naphtha, gasoil and ethane and LPG’s.
The key drivers in the ethylene market are the upstream developments, crude and naphtha movements on a daily and weekly basis and also the downstream activities; all the derivatives, the supply and demand fundamentals.
