Response Summary

Ethylene Glycol Methodology Consultation – Summary of responses

ICIS is implementing a process of rolling consultation on all of its pricing methodologies. Consultation paper GMC18/16 is part of this formal process and covers all of the ICIS primary price points included in the ethylene glycol weekly publications.

The consultation asked both general questions about the suitability of the ICIS pricing methodology and questions addressing specific ethylene glycol market issues.

ICIS received two responses, one confidential and one which requested anonymity. To read the anonymised public response please click on the link below.

This summary takes into account both responses, both confidential and anonymous.

One respondent wanted greater clarity on the definition of the deals used for the CIF NWE T2 assessment.

There was also a request for coverage of the southern Europe market.

The same respondent wanted the volumes for the assessments itemised on the report next to the assessments.

ICIS Decision

There was no consensus about particular changes to the current methodology,

ICIS has answered specific questions about processes outside the scope of the consultation directly with the respondents.

ICIS will review whether there is industry support for southern Europe coverage including an assessment.

A decision on this will be made by the end of January 2017.

ICIS continues to welcome any feedback on its ethylene glycol methodology outside of the formal consultation process.
