Updated to Q3 2019
The supply of anhydrous fuel-grade ethanol is expected to remain relatively tight in the early weeks of Q3 as the US corn harvest is expected to be troubled by bad weather conditions and poor corn yields. Brazil’s new harvest/crush season started in Q2, but the rate of ramp-up has been slower than expected. It should still lead to a higher supply of b-grade hydrous ethanol in Q3.
The demand for fuel-grade ethanol imports into the Philippines is unclear. The government has been actively trying to support the domestic ethanol industry, which could possibly result in reduced ethanol imports. With China-US trade tensions running high and with no resolution in sight, US exports of fuel ethanol to China are unlikely to resume. Ethanol buyers in northeast Asia are waiting for better price levels from Brazilian suppliers as the harvest season continues.
We offer the following regional Ethanol analysis and news coverage to keep you informed of factors and developments affecting prices in the Asia Ethanol marketplace.
